'Mystery at the Museum' Takes Over Science Museum Oklahoma, Feb. 10
January 19, 2017The science of solving crimes will be center stage at Science Museum Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 10, for the museum’s Mystery at the Museum Science Overnight.
Created by SMO’s science educators, Mystery at the Museum will delve into forensics activities like lifting and identifying fingerprints, impressions analysis, DNA extractions and even using ciphers to decrypt secret messages.
“There’s an incredible amount of science in solving crimes,” said Clint Stone, director of education and training at SMO.
“‘Mystery at the Museum’ offers hands-on experiences like you’d see in a lab or at the scene of a crime, plus some of the elements of police work we’re most familiar with, like interrogation.”
The event will also include access to all of the museum’s regular exhibits, a planetarium and Science Live show, and a light breakfast on Saturday morning.
Mystery at the Museum is from 7 p.m. Feb. 10 until 7 a.m. Feb. 11. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. and all guests must depart the museum by 7:30 a.m.
The cost is $35 per participant for museum members, $45 per participant for nonmembers and $25 for each non-participating adult. Non-participating attendees are those who chaperone groups but do not take part in any of the activities. All children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone and one adult is required for every six children in attendance.
