Two entire cars were taken apart, a 21-foot-tall robot dominated the landscape and more than 65 tinkering activities covered the floors and grounds of Science Museum Oklahoma as 11,163 guests attended the museum’s Tinkerfest presented by Oklahoma NSF EPSCoR on Sept. 29, shattering the museum’s single-day attendance record set during Tinkerfest in 2017.
Science Museum Oklahoma guests will have the chance to take apart two entire cars, launch rockets, learn about 3D printing, try their hands at carpentry and much more — all at no cost — from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29 as part of the museum’s second-ever Tinkerfest.
Christmas lights, waffles and the supernatural will take center stage at Science Museum Oklahoma during “SMO 21: Stranger Science” from 6:30-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, an adults-only (21+) night at the museum located at 2020 Remington Place in Oklahoma City.
Families with children who have sensory processing disorders now have new amenities and programming options available to them at Science Museum Oklahoma with the addition of sensory kits and stories, a sensory-focused museum map, and a sensory-friendly family night at the museum set for early 2019.

Science Museum Oklahoma will explore the science of summer camp during “Camp SMOnawanna: Salute Your Science” from 6:30-10 p.m. on Friday, June 22 for the second installment of SMO 21, an adults-only, after-hours event for ages 21 and up.
Beginning in May, Oklahoma Blood Institute and Science Museum Oklahoma have an exciting new adventure in store for donors who give blood to help patients in local hospitals: Donors who give blood at Oklahoma Blood Institute mobile drives and donor centers May 14 through Aug. 30 will receive free admission to SMO for one adult and one child as well as a limited edition “Let the Adventure Begin” t-shirt.*
